The original fisherman's sweaters of the Aran Islands were knit with designs that told stories of a rich coastal heritage. This is NOT a short cardigan!
I ordered two of these cardigans (large and extra large) about a month ago in the port washed color expecting them to fit like the pictures online. I am 5' 5" tall and weigh 130 lbs. I ordered the larger sizes for a looser fit to be able to wear a shirt underneath. Both sweaters came down over my hips and covered my rear....this was NOT a short cardigan. The top portion of the large fit me perfectly. So many styles vary dramatically in fit these days. Perhaps LL Bean should list the length of the garments in their size categories as the pictures don't always represent the true fit. Models vary in height and weight. If I would have known how long they were, I never would have ordered them and saved myself the trouble of returning them. The color and quality was excellent but not if they do't fit.

Long in my arms but I can button it. Very fitting though. Tight arms may be difficult to get on with clothes underneath. This should be a petite for me and the arms would be good. May have to roll up one time and that won’t look as good. Very thick. May get too hot inside.

Beautiful sweater
The sweater arrived today and it looks better than the online photos. I ordered the blue and was very pleased that the color was richer than I expected. I find the sizing to be generous. I am 5'3" and weigh 158lbs and the medium fit perfectly. It hits me on the hip rather than the waist like the model, but I prefer it. The only negative is that the sleeves are rather long, but it's not a problem ifor me n the overall fit. The yarn is heavier than expected but it's great quality and if it stretches a bit, that's fine too. It's a high quality sweater I expect to wear for many years.

I love this sweater! It’s very comfortable - even though it’s chunky it stretches a bit and the cotton breathes well. The way the yarn is faded highlights the cable pattern in a very striking way. It gets lots of compliments. The red is a pleasant burgundy tone with highlights that feel natural and not overly pinkish.

Great sweater, not lightweight.
I love the look of this sweater, and the color is lovely, but be advised that it weighs a lot. I hang it on a wood coat hanger--it would break a plastic one. Good, though, for cool nights where I live, and will carry me through the season.
