The softest long-lasting flannel in the widest range of 100% authentic Scottish tartans.
For over 80 years, we've been making our authentic Scotch Plaid flannel shirts the way we always have: better than everyone else's. Our exclusive flannel fabric is meticulously woven with longer-staple cotton, which means the individual cotton fibers are about one-quarter inch longer than short-staple fibers, making a huge difference in fabric strength and quality. Then, it's meticulously brushed eight times on each side and given a "touch test" by a master weaver to declare it soft enough.
- Authentic tartans are yarn-dyed for lasting color.
- Each color is carefully matched to the historical tartans in the Scottish registry.

My favorite flannel
Significant pilling after one wash, but doesn't bother me much based on the pros. They're extremely soft and well made, L fits great for a 6'1 225lbs well fed fella. Wish they cost less and didn't pill so easily, but the pros outweigh the con of little fuzz balls. Like the title says, my favorite flannel.

Great LL Bean products.
As a buyer of Bean products for over 40 years, this is not my first Bean flannel shirt; I am specifically drawn to true Scot's Tartans. As I have worn these previous shirts over many years, I have found their quality and wear-ability to be excellent (this same high quality extends to many other Bean products I have owned). I am starting to wear my older shirts beyond their normal life and I needed just one more Tartan, so I gave myself a Christmas present.
