Getting better w age.
My first LL Bean after my 26 year old LL Bean coat wore out is as warm as ever. Skiing in Utah in cold and sun this coat can be worn w wool layers or alone and does not disappoint. At 6’9” the XL Tall fits well, is long enough w/out being too snug. My go to coat for all outdoor activities. Plenty of pockets for phone, water flask and keys or more.

Great features, durable, well designed, and warm
I love this jacket!!
This is my multipurpose jacket. My “cold weather” go to jacket and I also use it to ski. So warm and dry. You really can’t have a better winter jacket. Get it! You won’t be disappointed and will have it for many years.
I have had this jacket for 4 years and I’m going to get another one for next winter.

Great Winter Coat
I'm a winter sports enthusiast who usually goes with a hard shell and layers for skiing etc. I got tired of layering up for daily dog-walks and errands, so I purchased this as a cold-weather coat for general use. I purchased it in November. Where I live in the mountains of Northwestern Virginia, we've had unusually cold weather in December and January. This coat is warn enough for a long walk in 10 degree weather. Key features for me are:
- Waterproof shell, (its not "crinkly" like some)
- Outside chest pocket for phone/wallet (I don't want to open my coat if I don't have to)
- Drawcord above the waist to retain core temp in windy conditions
- Removable hood (I'm hearing impaired, so hoods make hearing even more difficult)
- Hand-warmer/cargo pockets at hip level
- Length well below the waist for extra warmth
This coat hits all those. I'm not a fan of two way zippers in general, bth the one on this coat works easily for me. I found it a tad bulky for a two hour car ride, but it's fine to drive in for normal daily trips.
I recommend this coat.

Swing, and a clean miss
This is a mid-weight insulated coat, not suitable for under 20 degrees. 2 major problems with the coat I just received (mid-January '25): The hood is useless. It sticks out 6" above your head - no exaggeration! Even with a helmet on (which a coat like this is not really used with) it's 4" too tall. Most hoods can be adjusted back and down, this hood adjusts AROUND the circumference of your head - but it's so absurdly tall that the air rushes under it. Honestly, it's the worst and most useless hood I have EVER seen on a winter coat, unless you are a conehead. By the way, I use a hood rather than a hat when it's cold enough.
Second miss - the inner neoprene cuffs are as wide as the inner sleeves, meaning they stop NOTHING. I've had similar cuffs on other coats, they are quite stretchy and should be designed smaller so that they are snug around your wrist. Not these.
Yes, the outer cuffs are Velcro adjustable - so there's that. But the neoprene cuffs are so big they are useless. I'm returning this coat.
