Unsuited to my needs
These are well-made high quality pants that many men will find useful. However, I bought them thinking that Tropic-Weight meant what it sounded like. I wanted long cargo pants that I could use on hot summer hikes above timberline so I wouldn't have to use sun screen on my legs. These are much to heavy for the purpose. I returned them. I can recommend thenm as long as you are clear that they are not tropical weight.

Poor substitute for Allagash cargo pants
I like the shorts in this style, and the pants are OK for warm weather. I bought them only because I discovered that Bean discontinued the superior Allagash Cargo pants in the natural fit that I've been buying for may years and wear year round. Reviewing "cargo pants" search results indicates that Bean is transitioning away from natural fabrics to putting stretch in nearly everything. I don't want plastics against my skin. To be clear, these cargos are all cotton, and they are OK, but they aren't good for New England winters, and they are nowhere near as sturdy, comfortable, and flattering as the Allagash.

Great pants - Inconsistent size
When I fist bought these classic fit pants, I was pleased to finally find a great fit. My weight has remained the same, so I reordered the same fit several times. The length and waist measurements are dependable, but due to a variation in fit, I find myself trapped in a constant loop of returns and reorders.

Runs small and heavy weight fabric
My husband was so disappointed with these pants. He normally wears a 36 (and they are often large on him) but he could not get these pants buttoned. They also have a low rise. The weight of the fabric was quite heavy...hardly “tropic-weight".

CROTCH AREA PROBLEM
40+ waist is difficult because the crotch is often not deep enough. The cut in these pants is not deep enough. Quality and color are great.
