Nice warm wool sweater
This sweater is warm. It is 100% wool. I purchased a Medium and it fits well. Not too tight. You can wear a flannel shirt underneath and still move easily. Unfortunately, these types of sweaters are not made for women (women's sweaters are too short, tight, and most are not 100% wool - not made to wear outside).

Another Bean Wool Classic
Like its name, it is the beefy Classic L.L. Bean Ragg Wool Sweater, in the Henley style, which unlike the crew neck, gives a bit more breathability, ease in putting on or taking off, and more comfort. Still providing unbeatable warmth under a shell or vest on the coldest days. I got the "deepest brown" color, however it is closer to deep burgundy which is not an issue as it is a rich hue that goes with anything.
