0:13 How to Clean a Camping Hammock

Step 1: Check the care label. Our camping hammocks are fast drying and easy to clean. Most can be machine washed in a front-loading machine. You can also easily hand wash. Before washing, please check the care label for any specific care.

Step 2: Remove hardware. Whether machine or hand washing, first remove any carabiners, straps, clips or other hardware. There’s no need to untie any knots. Set the carabiners aside.

Step 3: Shake out. Shake your hammock outside to remove any pollen, leaves or debris.

Step 4: Machine wash or handwash. If your hammock is machine washable: place in a front-loading machine by itself. Add a dose of mild detergent. Do not use bleach or a softener because it will degrade the fabric. Wash with cold water on the gentle/delicate cycle. If hand washing: immerse it in a bucket of cold water with a dose of mild detergent. Let it soak for 5-10 minutes. Then, gently massage the fabric and rinse with clean water. Tip: A sink or bathtub also works!

Step 5: Air dry in the shade. To dry, either hang it up or lay it flat. Never put your hammock in a clothes dryer – that would be too much heat. If drying outdoors, be sure to hang in the shade – the sun’s UV rays can fade and weaken the fabric. Tip: On a sunny, breezy day, the hammock can dry in less than 30 minutes.

Step 6: Re-attach hardware. Once thoroughly dry, re-attach the carabiners, straps and hardware per instructions.

Step 7: Now you’re ready for your next adventure. Now it’s ready to store away, pack up or head back out there for another adventure.

Step 7: Flip over. Flip the hammock over and clean the other side, if needed. Gently brush with the soapy water mix and then rinse with clean water.
