Cotton Packer Hat
Fabric was very soft without any support or shape retention. One size fits all is quite a stretch for the brim pull cord to handle. The catalog picture shows a comfortable shaped hat, the actual product is something less.

L.L. Bean….Fire your QA department, NOW.
I originally bought the Waxed Cotton Packer Hat way back probably 20 years ago. On several occasions, I’ve made attempts to replace this very hat and every time after that, the quality has gone downhill. This purchase, (I have since returned it) was no different. The front to back seam is not centered. When L. L. Bean gets something right, it’s spot on. With this product, it is not. So many times I’ve been disappointed. This time, the button on the side broke off. I was distraught…. so I was desperate, I ordered a new one thinking, maybe, just maybe L.L. Bean had finally read enough negative comments that they fixed the quality issues. Received hat - nope. Still not straight.
So I glued the two halves of the buttons together. Maybe I’ll get a couple more years out of her.
I’ve never have understood why companies ask for comments but do nothing to address the failures.
This wi be the last time I order this hat from L.L. Bean…..and that’s a dang shame.

Runs really big - sizing chart is worthless
Bought an X-Large based on the sizing chart provided. It was too big so it was sent back for a Large. The Large was still too big even with pulling the draw strings. Ended up with a Medium which fits.

Much thinner than expected
The hat is quite thin and light. I measured my head and carefully chose the appropriate size but it was still too big. I returned the hat.

Comfortable, waterproof, personalized fit
The hat is waterproof and great even on sunny days when it's too warm for a wool hat and too cool to go without. It has two side snaps for style and an adjustable elastic at the bottom of the crown to tighten as needed. I like the color. It's a cool hat.

Not as good as I thought it would be.
I thought that since it was waxed that it would have some structure to it but it is pretty flimsy. Just hope that most of the wrinkles will eventually come out.
