VERY difficult to put together.
This item is very difficult to put together. The parts involving the Allen wrench took approximately 2 1/2 hours . I am nearly to the point that I may give up on it and send it back to L.L. Bean. The bracket holes do not line up.. it is nearly impossible to put the brackets in because of the tight space and misalignment. The screws are cheap and keep stripping. L.L. Bean should either sell this thing preconstructed or totally redesign it. I do not recommend this at all.

Perfectly Met Our Needs
I'm giving five stars because it looks great and has great functionality with the caviat that it is difficult to complete installation. The instructions are great and the build quality is good. The difficulty of installation comes when installing the final brackets and screws. Everything else was easy. The brackets go on the inside of the corners and the screws are small which makes it impossible to get a screwdriver in there and keep it straight. Otherwise, it looks great and really helps us with shoe organization.

A pain to assemble.
Good looking sturdy -once it's together. Tight corners, Holes that didn't line up and a missing Allen wrench made this project a pain. Once together, it's a welcome addition to our entryway.

Assembly nightmare
We bought this rack as a space saver for our mudroom. While it looks okay fully assembled, the assembly instructions are poor and the process is terrible. The corner brackets were particularly difficult to install as the holes are not fully pre-drilled (making turning the screws nearly impossible) and don't line up well. Now that it is assembled, we will keep it. But had we known how awful the assembly would have been, we never would have bought it. You have been warned!

Nice shoe rack
Great item. Assembly is abysmal, and doesn’t come with great directions. However, if you have a clue as to how to assemble something, this kit is easy. Just skip some of the steps. They are cumbersome and add nothing to the product.

So pretty, holds tons of shoes
Love this piece, fits in perfect with our NH cottage. Is a little tricky to assemble due to awkward angles, but I'm very happy with the product.

Difficult to assemble
The idea of this boot tray is brilliant. Unfortunately, the assembly was quit difficult and took longer than should have. After the initial steps of placing the wooden spools we attempted to screw the outer crews but the tool sent with the product is a little too big for the tight space allowed. Next, when we attempted to screw in the brackets we ended up taking the first part completely apart because the pre-drilled screw holes were uneven and we had to make our own screw holes. You will need a very tiny screw driver for the small space allowed. It is possible that there are carpenters and handymen out there who could have done it quicker however for your basic shopper who has basic skills it was not so easy.
