Great potential but..I own a pair of these only the Whitewoods "Outlander", different in graphics only. I also own Altai Hoks and Altai Koms. This "Skishoe"/"Outlander" needs a little modification to work much better: bindings flimsey and mounted much too far back on ski. I converted mine to 75mm 3-pin HD Voile' "mountaineer" and mounted (with new inserts spaced for "Telemark Norm" rather than original "Nordic Norm" 2" then 4" forward and turned them into a more balanced and effective climbing, and way more responsive turning ski (using rugged supportive 75mm ski boot). The Altai brand has all this done right from the start, and their inserts accept the proper 3-pin/Telemark Norm bindings that bolt right on (with shorter bolts). The L.L.Bean/Whitewoods Skishoe/Outlander is a pretty fun ski, but takes some significant modification to get there..

Look really nice, but priceyThey look like they would be a lot of fun. Friends have similar ones and enjoy them. I feel that they are a bit pricey. I would really love to give them a try, but not at this price. Sorry LL Bean. I love your products but will have to wait on this one.

Needs better bindingsI really wanted this to be the perfect back country ski. It does slide OK and it goes uphill if the grade isn’t steep. Much less work than snow shoes. But downhill it is terrifying! The bindings are wrong for this type of skiing. I’m a really good alpine skier but I could NOT get these skis to turn or stop going downhill! The bindings have too much ‘give’ - I could not get the ski angled even a little to use the edge to turn or slow down. I even took them to Keystone’s bunny hill to work on how to slow them down. A more responsive binding (like a telemark binding) would make a lot of difference. If you only want to use them on flat terrain they would be OK.

SnowslideFit is relatively comfortable, easy to adjust and attach to your own boot, however sliding through snow packs on on the bottom and therefore sliding doesn’t go smoothly. I returned for that reason, this is not what I wanted from a snowslide.

Excellent flotation. Very easy to manageJust bought two pairs today for my girl and I. They have excellent flotation. Very easy to control. And very easy to manage in the woods without trails. We covered a variety of terrain today from flat wooded sections to hills that were a bit steep. If you have used cross country skis in the woods you will love these.

Good purchaseThis type of ski worked really well on our trip to northern WI. I have little experience w x country skis and I find snow shoeing tiring, and found that these really are an in between experience. I used these on both packed and unpacked snow using ski poles I had. It would be helpful if skis came w poles as an option.
They have secure bindings that are simple to use. These skis work faster than using snowshoes and slower but easier than x country skiing, and I recommend these for that purpose.

Better than HoksI just took these out today in wet packable snow conditions. They performed well and better than our pair of Hoks which formed globby snowballs that stuck to the underside of the skis during the same run. The LLBean version seems sturdy (I fell 3 times, nothing broke) and the skis glide well over the wet snow. All in all happy with this hybrid ski shoe.
