Mixed feelings about vest
I love the loft and warmth but it needs a zipper in addition to the snaps to seal out the cold, especially since they are hard to close. Not having inside pockets is a minus too, just a tiny stow sack where a pocket should be. Finally the outside pockets should have access from the sides, not the top.

I still have mine from 1996
I check every year to see if there are feather down vests with snaps not zippers. Zippers never fold right on jackets. I am surprised that LL Bean has finally brought this vest back. However, I am going to pass because they put the LL Bean insignia on the chest area. The original one does not have this. It ruins the look. Make it w/o the insignia and I bet it will out sell the one with.

got the large and great fit for me, 5-11, 210lb, the extra long back is wonderful. Snaps are ok, would prefer zipper to retain more heat. Yes,recommended.

Nice vest with one exception
My last similar Bean vest was purchased 10 years ago. I loved it. This one presumably is its replacement. It is lighter in weight although still warm enough for Sacramento, NorthCali weather. The one exception is the pockets. The good news is they are large front pockets which have ample room for phone, gloves, etc. The difference between the old vest and this one is the outer cloth of the pocket is not insulated. It is a plain, non puffy material which is sturdy but not warm. I often put my hands in my coat pockets for warmth, even with gloves on and this pocket is not good for that. I wish they could have added a bit more puffy material on the outside to use the pocket for warmth as well as carrying things.
