Patches awful
Leg patches unattractive and weird. Edges of patches frayed on purpose. Ruined an otherwise good pair of attractive pants.

Great work pants
Great work pants. Other types of LLBean pants that I have tried have been narrow in the legs and we have returned them. These pants are not narrow in the legs and comfortable for moving and working. I recommend.

Good value.
At 1/2 price the “camp chinos” were a good value. They have a better than average fit and the basic design details (welted seams, double besom hip pockets, military style buttons and solid mid weight canvas fabric) suggest a well made product.

Pants as pictured, but a surprising patch
Comfortable, sized as expected.
The surprise was the knee patches. I bought the "darkest navy" color. In the picture, you kind of see an outline around the knee patch. I figured it was a trick of the lighting, or something. But no, it's for real and the reason is a bit surprising. The outline is the raw, open thread edge of the patch. It's sewn on to the leg about an eighth of an inch inside the edge.
The edges are frayed, creating the outline. I'll bet that the fraying is amplified after washing. I wonder whether the fraying will eventually degrade the stitching that holds the patch on.
These pants might have made for a sortof casual-dress situation but, now, maybe not. FWIW, if I had purchased a lighter color, the outline would be less noticeable...but the photo of the lighter color makes it seem as though the patches are deliberately even lighter than the rest of the fabric. That'd surely make them...CASUAL dress.
