design of the backpack
i got this a few weeks ago. but disappointed. the design of the outside pocket flaps restrict getting anything in them. once you're past the flaps, the side pockets have plenty of room. same with the bigger pocket in the middle. the main compartment is too small at the bottom. seems to funnel down from the top to the bottom. the flap pocket on top is too small to put anything. my phone and sunglasses is all i can put in it. i could only get part of my shelter in the main compartment and my food. i don't like strapping my sleeping bag on the bottom. my old pack would hold all of my shelter with no problem. so i put all my gear in the weekender, and went for a hike. it weighed 25#, hiked for 5-6 miles. tried adjusting the position of the shoulder straps a couple of times. but did not like how it carried. i really wanted to like this pack, but i'm going back to my old pack. i gave yours 2 stars because it seems to be made out of good material and sewn up real good. sorry, very disappointed.

Boy Scout approved!
My teenager has taken this bag on 3 boys out campouts and it has been perfect! Lots of pockets and places to clip things. I wish the straps on the bottom were a little longer but otherwise is it fantastic. The drawstring top is awesome.

Not what I hoped for
Got this delivered today and it is the most disappointed I have been with an LL Bean product. It is only marginally larger than my old Continental Rucksack and the design is such that I cannot put a 1 liter Nalgene bottle the side pockets. The design of the flap is such that nothing larger diameter than a 12 oz drink can will fit. My old LL Bean rucksack does not have this issue.This product is not worth the $149 I paid. Maybe if it was $75 or so I could overlook the miserably poor design of the side pockets. I regret my purchase but will remain a longtime customer. I am being generous with the 3 star rating.

Typical Bean Quality
It took my arthritic hands a long time to open all the clips, but I love the capacity of the interior and the large outside pockets. This is a truly outstanding bag with rugged Bean quality to boot. I'm in an earthquake zone, and this will be my "bug out" bag,

Big , roomy bag, My grandson wanted this bag for high school . He needed room for his computer, lunch,books and running gear for track. He still uses his Bean pack pack from previous years just for track meets. He LOVES the roominess in this bag.

Good looking pack and fairly nostalgic design
Bought this pack at the flagship store in Freeport. Tried on the sample one that was on the rack and it felt like it would be adjustable enough. Got it home and started fitting it. SEVERELY disappointed that the strap adjustment is next to nill! If you have a long torso this pack will be hard to fit. The velcro section just isn't long enough to get the lumbar pads down where they belong. Even offering a longer option of the shoulder straps would make it perfect. The size and volume is exactly what I was looking for
