Product Details

This just might be our favorite family tent in our 109-year history. Field testing found it to be extremely weatherproof, roomy and well-ventilated. A rear "mud room" keeps wet, muddy boots and gear out of the sleeping area.

We worked with the guides from our Outdoor Discovery Program to develop a tent capable of enduring harsh Maine weather. They put it to the test on the rugged Maine coast and on a multiday canoe trip down the Penobscot River. Our guide said, "we had heavy downpours on our first morning, and the tent was bone dry. It was great to have the back vestibule to keep our gear dry. And high winds were no problem." In fact, the ODP loved it so much, they'll be using it for all their overnight trips.

  • Roof vents and dual doors for excellent ventilation.
  • Lightweight, strong aluminum frame.
  • Rear vestibule provides dry gear storage.
  • Tent body made from 75D ripstop polyester.
  • Floor made from super-tough 4 oz Oxford nylon with 1500mm PU coating.
  • Fly made from 75D ripstop polyester with 1500mm PU coating.
  • Built with rugged YKK zippers.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from ll bean northern guide tent review We just purchased this tent and were startled to find it leaking badly through the floor seams. Yes we did have the fly underneath it, purchased separately. : ). Our sleeping bags got quite wet. All this with very carefully pitched tent. No water pooling under tent. I think we. got some moisture through the vents above as well. Not up to previous lL bean standards

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice size. Easy to set up. Easy to set up. Similar to past Pine Dome tent but without the screen room.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sturdy car camping tent Pros: Ease to enter and exit. Roomy and almost stand-up height. Very weather tight. Can close the fly vents from inside when the rain starts. Sturdy floor fabric and good aluminum poles. Color is a nice shade of green. Cons: No screen on the back door is a design flaw, I bought a screen device and added it. Somewhat challenging for 1 person to set up but can be done. A bit hefty you won't want to hike or portage this. Be sure to stake the tent down. The wind caught mine and rolled it around and bent a top pole, which I returned to LL Bean and replaced with the same tent. I've had many tents and this is our go-to car camping tent.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great, EXCEPT...... Great tent, EXCEPT it is missing a "backdoor" screen. Big design goof. Other tents have it. Can't figure out why the design doesn't include a screen for the "backdoor" to allow cross ventilation. Makes for a very stuffy tent in hot weather. The small vents at the top, to allow air in under the fly do not make up for no backdoor screen. Can't leave the backdoor open for cross ventilation without also letting in the bugs. It would have been so easy to use the same screen design as the front door, for the backdoor. Wonder why not? And in a rain storm, the air vent supports for the fly became conduits for water - carrying water down them in to the tent. We had to close down the fly air vents. Go figure.........

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tent Review Love LL Bean products, the tent is exactly as described, like the steep sides for keeping the weather out, no chance of pooling….super easy set up and takedown….highly recommend

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cheapened product -Returned Too many short cuts were taken on this tent. 1. Inadequate front fly 2. No mesh at rear door 3. Undersized storage bag with only a one way zipper. Seemed more like a cheap tent I picked up at a big box store. Not up to LLBean's previous tent quality, and what a shame! For a few cents more, this could have been a keeper.
