Product Details

Studded wading boots designed to provide lightweight support, comfort and protection for the fisherman who demands the best. They're built with advanced fabric technology to ensure exceptional durability.

L.L.Bean has been making top-quality footwear since 1912, and these premium wading boots are no exception. They feature incredibly rugged Aramid fibers that were originally used in body armor fabric and ballistic composites. Our innovative design provides the comfort, cushioning and protection you'd expect from trail running or hiking shoes. If you love to cover lots of river during your fishing adventures, these are the boots for you.

  • Upper is built from ultra-tough, durable Aramid fibers.
  • Vibram Idrogrip sticky rubber sole provides excellent grip.
  • Side ports accelerate drainage.
  • Integrated carbide tipped studs for the ultimate in traction.
  • EVA midsole for athletic shoe comfort, cushioning and protection.
  • Three dimensional toe cap and external heel counter provide protection and durability.
  • Clean, snag-free design resists the transport of destructive aquatic organisms.
  • Closed-cell foam padding and EVA midsole for quick drying support and comfort.
  • Gusseted tongue and innovative collar geometry for easy on and off.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from good traction, poor support Bought brand new for wilderness fishing in New Zealand. The rivers and streams there are as challenging for wading as they are for the fishing and you need great ankle support to be able to navigate the smooth clean stones and boulders on very long walks. Sadly, these boots once wet were very soft and provided almost no ankle support. Seemingly well built but I abandoned them after 4 days for a stiffer boot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best version of this boot to date I bought this boot 2 years ago after my last pair of the studded river treads finally expired. In my 34 years of fly fishing it is by far the best boot I've ever owned. It does run large, but that's great for both inland and steelhead.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice boots, glad to have laces, they run large! Very nice boots, glad they've gone back to laces - wasn't a big fan of the boa system honestly. These definitely run large, I really wish they had half sizes! My last pair had the boa and were also a (too large) size 10. I wish they had a size 9.5 and they'd be perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally, A Quality, Lace-up, Studded Wading Boot Bravo! With the Apex boot, LL Bean appears to have finally put a durable, comfortable, lace-up wading boot on the best/safest studded rubber sole in the industry. After 10 days of heavy use on boulder-filled streams, the Apex boot is holding up much better than the Emerger boot. No sole separation or other failures. Not sure about the fabric eyelets, but so far, so good. I spend 50+ days a year fly fishing mountain streams for trout, and the Apex so far appears to be the highest quality studded wading boot from LL Bean since the old lace-up Gray Ghost. I go through roughly 2 pairs of wading boots each year, and I will buy the Apex boot again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Boot - Quick in and out. I'm a current owner and user of the LL Bean Apex wading boot. So far (three weeks) it has been a surprisingly good wading boot. Comfortable with good ankle support. I'm used to Boa front closures but these boots have laces. The laces are easy to draw tight using the top side lugs instead of eyelets. They quickly open nice and wide for your foot to get in and out of. Actually better than my Boas.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from GOOD,COMFORTABLE AND RELIABLE WADING BOOTS. I bought a pair of apex wading boots a few months back and am very satisfied.I got a size larger than my normal shoe size to accommodate heavy socks in the spring. There is plenty of room. The boots go on and come off easily. And these boots are easy to lace up.I have a studded pair which do a good job reducing slippage and keeping me upright wading in the Kennebec River.I'm completely satisfied with these boots.
