Rated 2 out of 5 by from Pants too heavy to be called "tropic wear" Cotton fabric is too heavy to be called "tropic wear"...LLBean used to carry very lightweight cotton pants, but they don't do that anymore....

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good pants, but . . . Light and comfortable. Front pockets are too short. Zipper is too short

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very comfortable pants Well made pants for my warm weather trip. Light weight fabric that dries quickly and has handy cargo pockets.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Short pockets not acceptable Like other reviews what is with the little pockets? Everything falls out when sitting or reclining. Also zipper is not long enough. Not a good value for the price, but they are lightweight and look decent

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wrinkle free with lots of pockets They fit well and have plenty of pockets. They don't show wrinkles. My only criticism is that I would have preferred slightly deeper pockets for my phone.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from fabric is good, light weight and tough I received pants a few days ago. They fit ok but they need additional belt loops on hip area, they also have pockets that are not deep enough. Whats that all about ? Doesn`t LL Bean know how to make pockets that are deep enough? For $79.00 per pair you would think they could do a better job. I don`t plan on buying anymore until they can get it right

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Compared to the old style, these are a 3 I had the luck to purchase a couple pairs of tropicwear pants several years ago. They were everything you could want. Light weight, super comfortable in the heat, stylish, very good utility, great fit, easy to care for and more. Like every 'well used' item, mine eventually developed small knicks, tears, holes and frayed edges. I still have them as 'cutoff' shorts, but ultimately a new pair was in order. I was a bit sad with my new order. The fabric is definitely different... a bit more 'crinkley' and less smooth / flowing - if that makes sense. It reminds me of an old plastic/nylon windbreaker vs say a silk shirt. Possibly the new fabric is a bit more durable or more tear resistant, and that might be a fair trade-off, but time will tell. My next issue is the the pockets aren't near as deep as the old style. With the old pants, you cold put items in your pockets and they would generally stay there. With these, you better check around your area every time you sit down. I've had everything from coins to usb sticks, to a compass and car keys (YIKES!) fall out after setting down for a bit on a trail. I've learned to use the velcro or zipper pocket for anything 'valuable'. But then you have valuable items that you use often throughout the day, so get the hassle of ripping the velcro or zipper open dozens of times a day. Lastly - it seems like the max length is 34" inseam. C'mon - there are some of us taller than 6' out here. Getting a 36" inseam would be ideal. So overall, if I were shorter and didn't know the old style, these would be a "5 star" pant. Given the changes - which I can't say are 'better' - and only 34" inseam, they definitely leave room for improvement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Favorite Pants My husband lives in these pants. He has a pair in each color. They can be dressed up or down, making them useful for whatever the day brings. He even wore them to our daughter's wedding!
