Rated 5 out of 5 by from Know what you want from these boots before you buy Several decades ago I bought Red Wings, mostly for working, and less for hiking. They are exceptional, but my feet got bigger and could no longer wear them. I was going to Yellowstone in winter and bought the insulated Kangaroo boots having done a great deal of reading and youtube watching, trying on competitors. First I went to RZZ to try their boots, and fitted by an excellent shoe salesman. I have a high arch, narrow foot, size 11 foot, and size 13 arch??? Yes, after 76 years I now find that is a thing. So 12 is a compromise since no manufacturer makes a shoe for my feet. The Roos arch support is poor, so back to RZZ for Superfeet inserts to replace the insert. I must say that most people are jealous. TSA guys demanded I take them off so they could inspect them, with all the metal eyelets. My feet are narrow and the available medium (not wide) turned out to be very important. I wore two socks, light first layer and very heavy wool on top of that, making a snug fit, but very comfortable 9 hours of snowmobiling at 35 miles per hour, at 15 degrees. 200 insulation was very good, and not making the Roos too bulky. But they are bulky boots. They resist the water very well, but no submersion. Sown on Vibram soles, hold the crampons extremely well in active use on ice. Other boots with formed soles do not work well with stretch on crampons. The Redwings are heavy stiff leather. Very durable for abrasion. The Roos are lighter more flexible and easier to break in. Don’t tell anyone they are made of Kangaroo, they think you are evil. Just know that these are well made, and suit their purpose extremely well. You have to know the purpose for which you are buying the boots. They are not everyday shoes for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can’t find anything like theses… 2007 was my purchase. Lasted thru all those years of pheasant hunting, farming, fishing, atv riding, even wore them snowmobiling in Wisconsin and Colorado. Maintained them with bees wax for waterproofing each season. Never had any wet feet. Insulated version was perfect in all seasons. In extra cold tree stand…just used sock liner and wool socks. No problem. Finally after 14 years the soles separated. Likely my fault for improper summer storage that year and then wore straight to the quarry. Going to buy another pair and will be thrilled if they give me even 10 years versus the 14 I got.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Started Good, Ended Poor Land Surveyor in rural Virginia Beach and I wanted a pair of field boots that would hold up to woods/briars/farm fields - lots of hiking. These boots were super comfortable but the tread wore out quickly and the leather is super thin and even after regular treatment with SnoSeal, split and failed. I expected a LOT MORE for a $200+ boot.
