Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great coat but bad zipper and faux fur hood 95% of this coat is wonderful. I love the weight, the warmth, the longer length, the huge lined pockets, the two-way zipper, and the 'kelp green' color (I'd rather not have the orange interior, but it's okay). One of my complaints will be identical to every other: the zipper is very annoying. Sometimes I get it on the first try while other days it takes me 5+ tries to get it. This has been a common complaint in the *several years* I've been reading reviews and pondering purchasing this coat, so I'm disappointed it wasn't fixed by the time I finally got around to buying it. I do like that it has an extra-long zipper pull on it, especially since the coat is long and thick. My other complaint is the faux fur hood - at this high price point I would appreciate real fur, or even a blend. This is the most comfortable I've ever been in the winter. I usually struggle quite a bit with even quick trips outside once it's below 20F, but I'm doing much better this year between this and LL Bean's 'adult puffer mittens'. My previous coat (different brand) was a down puffer that went to my knees, but this one keeps me much warmer and seems to cut the wind much better. The hood also does a much better job protecting my head and neck than my previous coat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2 winters in.. best coat ever! Subzero temps, wind and snow are no match for this parka! I can't express how much I love it. It's heavy duty, durable and waterproof. I never had problems with the zipper. And I love all the pocket space! I don't even need a purse! The fit is perfect and enough room to wear my insulated bibs underneath. I love the bright orange lining with the kelp green! It's a very attractive coat. Things to note: it makes noise when you move around. It's also got significant weight to it. If you're a small framed woman this hefty parka might swallow you up. But you will be warm!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job If you're looking for a coat that is nearly impervious to the cold, this is it! This parka kept me warm and toasty in windy single digit and negative temps. But, like others have said, the zipper needs some work and is at times frustrating. Thus I am docking one star. Everything else about the coat is great and the quality of it feels like it will last a long time!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stay outside Very comfortable incredibly warm jacket. I was traveling through rainy and cold Europe in the winter and this jacket saved my trip. I was able to stay outdoors longer and explore.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best cold weather coat I have owned. This coat is great for very cold, windy weather. The only small cold spot I have found is low on the throat and wearing a scarf solves that. It is heavy and so well made. I walk in some very cold winter weather and am very comfortable and warm in this coat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and Long Enough Sleeves for us taller ladies! I'm 5'9" and usually size up so that the sleeves are long enough and I don't feel like a stuffed sausage, but the other reviewers said the sleeves were long and there was extra room and they were right. I got a medium and the sleeves are perfect. There is enough room to add more layers, but even in 2 degree weather I didn't need anything heavier than a long sleeve t underneath. I love the cayenne color - it's fun and bright and the fur trimmed hood keeps the snow off my face when it's snowing during our walks. The only downside is that the zipper is fussy, but some of that is because I was expecting it to be fussy after reading reviews and I was overcompensating. Once I started treating it like a regular zipper it became much easier to zip.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Unwearably bulky I was so excited for this coat and equally disappointed by it. I'm 5'2, just under 110lbs. I got the smallest size offered, petite XS. It was so big on me that I couldn't even zip it. The coat has thick, stiff fabric (which I'm sure makes it incredibly warm, alas, I will never know) but there was so much of it, I couldn't line the zipper up. I truly felt ridiculous trying and failing to zip a coat as a 33 year old who regularly strength trains, but here we are. I went back and looked at other reviews, and it seems that the people who found it fit well and rated it highly have a different body type from mine. The Baxter State Parka is a better fit for me, though I wish it had this coat's length!
