Hard foam
I returned mine. The back foam was very stiff and awkward sitting back in my kayak seat. It pushed me forward. I felt very confined. The front panels also felt very restrictive for paddling.
Although I am sure very floatable in the water, I just did not feel comfortable in it.

Looks nice, but maybe not good for kayaking.
I like the color and molded fit. It is short so it doesn't ride up when I sit. However, the back is uncomfortable when kayaking because it is fairly thick and the bottom ends partway down the seatback so there is a gap of several inches with no back support.

Not flattering but that’s not the point. RIGHT?
This is a higher quality life jacket with substantial flotation material to make you float face up. I bought it because of the pockets in front a definite plus. I have to admit it isn’t very flattering though because of the thickness in front.

Comfortable and colorful with POCKETS!
This PFD is great! It fits comfortably both walking around and sitting in a kayak. There are 3 adjustable straps on each side that were helpful for a safer and more comfortable fit over my chest, which is bigger than my waist. My favorite feature is the pockets! There are 2 on each side, one of which can be zipped. I easily fit my phone (in a baggie), keys, IDs, and a snack for easy access. No need for a bag if you’re just out for a couple hours!
The blue color is much brighter in person, but I don’t mind because I’ll be seen better on/in the water. Overall, excellent quality and a competitive price!
